in spite of和despite的区别
In spite of the heavy rain, we still went to the park.(尽管下着大雨,我们还是去了公园。) In spite of his tiredness, he kept working.(尽管他很疲惫,他还是继续工作。) In spite of having a headache, she attended the meeting.(尽管头疼,她还是参加了会议。)
Despite the cold weather, they went swimming.(尽管天气寒冷,他们还是去游泳了。) Despite her fear, she faced the challenge bravely.(尽管她害怕,她还是勇敢地面对了挑战。) Despite being busy, he helped me with my project.(尽管很忙,他还是帮我做项目。) 不过,“despite” 后面还可以直接跟the fact that引导的从句,形成“despite the fact that...” Despite the fact that he was ill, he came to work on time.(尽管他生病了,他还是按时来上班了。 )而“in spite of” 不能直接接 “the fact that...” 引导的从句,如果想用 “in spite of” 表达类似意思,需要去掉 “the fact that”,直接接从句内容。例如:In spite of his illness, he came to work on time.
